Final MRI report & more decisions

The MRI final reading reports inflammatory changes just anterior and superior to the pons in Amelia's brain. The area is in the center of her brain in the lower back part, near the base of her skull. The pons is the structure in the brain that communicates between the cerebellum, which controls voluntary motor movement, balance and equilibrium and muscle tone, and the cerebrum, which controls personality, intelligence, interpretation of sense information (touch, taste, etc), planning and organization (we all know how good Amy is at those things at 3!! ha ha) and coordination.

Amy is also having "soft signs" of meningitis returning. These signs include back stiffening, resisting head position changes, leg stiffness and pain, "itchy" back, irritability, increased head pain, low-grade fever (100.1 this morning), increased light sensitivity, lethargy (sleepiness). The team (neurology, infectious disease and pediatrics) are considering another spinal tap, a brain biopsy, blood cultures, and other cultures to check for more rare infectious diseases. Please pray for their wisdom and that Amy would not worsen further before they decide what to do next. We can't give Amy any pain medicine because until the tests are completed (if they decide to do any) they don't want to decrease the inflammation.

How priceless is your unfailing love!
Both high and low among men
find refuge in the shadow of your wings.

For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.

Continue your love to those who know you,
your righteousness to the upright in heart.

~ from Psalm 36 ~
